In 2025, Drop Access began a partnership with Rice University and agreed to host an
American engineering intern, Jasmine Ferrarer, for 11 weeks at their Nairobi warehouse. During
that time, Jasmine used her mechanical engineering skills to help the Drop Access production
team improve the VacciBox design and build refrigerator prototypes. Jasmine is a student in the
Rice Master of Bioengineering Global Medical Innovation program. This program is a one-year
graduate degree that prepares students to enter the medical device industry by giving them the
opportunity to participate in an international internship and complete in-person classes at the
Rice University campus in Houston, Texas. Graduates are well-equipped to pursue and advance
their careers in the dynamic field of medical device design, using biomedical engineering
principles to solve unmet globally relevant needs.  For more information about the Rice
