The 2023 Isiolo County Agricultural Exhibition provided a valuable platform for introducing innovative agricultural solutions to the local community. Among the exhibitors, Drop Access had the opportunity to showcase its products solar water pumps and clean cooking energy solutions. The event attracted significant interest from both local farmers and non-profit organizations operating within Isiolo County.

Solar Water Pumps Take Center Stage:

The solar water pumps presented by Drop Access garnered substantial attention during the exhibition. These pumps, powered by renewable solar energy, resonated strongly with all participants. Farmers appreciated the potential of solar water pumps to address challenges related to water pumping and the volatility of fuel prices. The idea of harnessing abundant sunlight to boost agricultural productivity struck a chord with the attendees who are mainly looking to cut production cost in their farms. Many attested to spending to an upward of 3000sh per week on fuel for petrol and diesel water generators.

Emphasis on PAYGO Model and Affordability:

A noteworthy aspect of Drop Access's presentation was its innovative PAYGO model. This payment approach for accessing the solar water pump without a significant upfront investment was a point of great interest. Attendees recognized the affordability of this model, making it an attractive solution for farmers with limited financial resources. The flexibility of the PAYGO model aligns well with the economic realities faced by rural farming communities in Isiolo County.

Non-Profit Organizations as Potential Partners:

The exhibition also drew the attention of non-profit organizations operating in Isiolo County. These organizations acknowledged the socio-economic and environmental benefits of adopting solar water pumps and clean cooking energy solutions. The event served as a networking opportunity and a platform to explore potential collaborations between Drop Access and these organizations. Their shared goal is to enhance agricultural practices and improve livelihoods in the region. Links were established with SNV and AGRA teams who are looking to procure Pumps for demonstration in Laikipia and Samburu for the Listen project. Our PAYGO model Proved to be a winner with the project team being very interested in a collaborative effort in presenting our product to farmers during farmer field visits.
